Lake Rotoiti
Lake Rotoiti is one of Rotorua's largest and most well-known lakes. It is connected to Lake Rotorua by the Ohau channel and drains into the famous Kaituna River, which features the world's highest commercially rafted waterfall.
Hinehopu Lakeshore Reserve
At the eastern end of Lake Rotoiti is the Hinehopu Lakeshore Reserve, which is well-known for shoreline fishing. Only during December and February, water skiing is allowed on the lake. The Hinehopu (Hongi's) trail borders around the reserve.
The walkway and the bush area are administered by the Department of Conservation.

- Barbeques (electric, on timer)
- Picnic tables
- Children's playground
- Public toilets
- Boat ramp
- Dogs are allowed but must remain on a lead.
There is no overnight parking or camping at this reserve.
